Vintage AC Andre Cousances Flame Orange Enameled Cast Iron 22 The Original Le Creuset!
This is a heavy cast iron pot or saucepan with a lid made by the precursor of Le Creuset. It is in the classic orange flame enamel and the bottom has the number 22 which indicates the width of the pot in centimeters. It holds 3 quarts.
The "AC" logo stands for Andre de Cousances, the name of the foundry in the Cousances-les-Forges town in France that was bought by Le Creuset in 1957. While Le Creuset used the Cousances name after the acquisition, The "AC" logo is from the pre-Le Creuset foundry (prior to 1957).
This pot is in good vintage condition. There are no chips to the enamel, just some minor scratches and wear. There is some staining on the interior - see photos for details.
Measures approximately 8-1/2" in diameter and 3-5/8 " tall, 5" tall to the top of the knob on the lid. 3 quart capacity.
