Vintage ALLEN EDMONDS Nassau Sharkskin Wingtip Full Brogue Derby Shoes 12 D

This vintage pair of Allen Edmonds likely dates back to the1970’s. These marvelous Sharkskin Full Brogues are beautifully hand-lasted,Goodyear welted, and entirely edge-bound. Sharkskin is extremely durable,understandably water resistant, and equally resistant to dyeing. The original color of most of these skins is a reddish-brown undertone with a superficial second color on the raised surfaces, typically another tone of brown. This material, among the rarest skins from which shoes can be made, is far scarcer than any other exotic skinned shoe. They possess a subtle elegance that reeks of luxury. The use of Sharkskin in the making of shoes is no longer done for reasons of conservation so I cannot sufficiently emphasize the scarcity of such a shoe…a custom pair would cost a fortune to have made.
