Raymond E. Bidwell founded the Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company in Abingdon, Illinois; to produce vitreous china plumbing products. During the Great Depression, Abingdon Pottery was created in 1934 due to financial hardship. Between 1934-1950, Abingdon Pottery produced over 6 million items, in over 1,000 designs & almost 150 colors. Abingdon pottery was sold first in gift shops & later through dept. stores such as Gimbals, Marshall-Fields, & Wanamaker’s. 11"H x 7"W x 5"D
