Incredible Vintage TAXCO Alfredo Villasana Sterling Silver Abalone Shell Oval Brooch Pin Hallmarks Eagle Mark 3 Conjoined "AV" inside Hecho en Mexico (circle) Sterling 925 "Villasana" Alfredo Villasana was manager for William Spratling and Hector Aguilar in the 1930's before Branching out on his own. He is well known and loved (amongst other Mexican Silver Renaissance style era artists) for his precise repousse work, clamper style bracelets and much more. This piece ages to circa 1950 making it at least 70 years old. It does show age, and signs of wear. Back side has minor surface scratches, some naturally developed patina, pin bar slightly bent from use, clasp in working order. Abalone Shell still has nice polish with the most amazing color play flash I've ever seen on Abalone. Shell has a couple of natural divots I can see up close and feel- almost impossible to photograph (these are natural occurrences not flaws) Please see photos/video for best description, condition, and measurements. *Photos have been enlarged to show detail.
