Vintage Amy Kahn Russell Pin/Pendant AKR silver

This hand-painted floral miniature tile on black onyx glows with finely painted detail. It is accented with hand-painted enamel flowers and embellished with coral, black onyx, and 24K gold over crystal, all bezel set in sterling silver. This piece can be worn as a pin or a removable pendant on chains, beads, etc. These one-of-a-kind pieces are specially created for galleries and art institutions. This particular piece, which is new with tags is similar to pieces commissioned by the Detroit Institute of the Arts. Amy Kahn Russell, a forerunner in the naturalistic jewelry trend, created this one-of-a-kind pin/pendant. A fine arts graduate of Tulane, her designs have been inspired by motifs and cultures she encountered while traveling abroad. Although Amy now resides in the United States, she incorporates unusual artifacts and stones collected worldwide into her dramatic jewelry. These one-of-a-kind pieces were from my mother's estate. She could not leave the house but liked looking at beautiful, handmade things. I have inherited these pieces, and I have kept my favorites. Dimensions: 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 in.
