Vintage Arabia Finland Pomona Plum Raija Uosikkinen Earthenware Bowl

Vintage "Pomona" double-handed earthenware bowl from Arabia Finland adorned with purple plums and green leaves, circa 1962. Designed by Raija Uosikkinen (1923–2004), one of the prominent decorators of Finnish 20th-century design. Raija Uosikkinen was born in 1923 in Hollola in the south of Finland. She studied porcelain painting at the Central School of Arts and Crafts from 1944 to 1947. Arabia then hired her as a decorative painter and decora­tion designer from 1947 to 1986. During her four decades at the Arabia factory, she crafted more than 100 legendary decors for tableware and wall plaques. Excellent condition - no chips, cracks or crazing. Light discoloration on the bottom (see picture). Measures 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" high. Weighs 14.2 oz. Made in Finland.
