Lovely Galaxy Brooch made by Ariki of New Zealand. Ariki is the world's most successful designer/manufacturer of Paua shell jewelry. It is also one of the largest New Zealand jewelry manufacturers. The company was established in 1932. The name “Ariki” is from the Maori language and means “The Chief”. Each of Ariki’s handcrafted cabochons (specifically shaped & polished paua shell) is unique in color and pattern. Paua ("pah-wah") is the Maori name given to the abalone from New Zealand whose shells are extremely sought after for their striking green, blue and purple iridescence.This piece is Rhodium plated and comes in original box (the box has slight wear but in good shape, the interior has the original label).
