Vintage Art Deco Lusterware Lidded Biscuit /Barrel Cookie Jar Bamboo Handle MIE. Here we have a simply delightful Art Deco biscuit barrel or cookie jar in lustreware, a type of pottery or porcelain with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence. It features scrumptious ripe peaches with emerald green leaves, on a background of shimmering deep brown blending into a shade of pale apricot. It has a few minor scuffs with age, but nothing overly noticeable. It might be under the glaze because I can’t feel ti the touch.There are no signs of crazing . There are no chips or cracks & the colours are bright & vibrant. The quintessentially 1930's woven rattan handle is in excellent condition with the interior clean & ready for use. It is marked Made in England to the base. There is maker's mark signed but i can’t make it out. h: 19.5cm (7 1/2") exc handle 21.5cm (8 1/2") inc handle w: 19cm (7 1/2") A gorgeous piece which is perfectly functional but also pretty enough to adorn your china display cabinet!
