Vintage B. David "Family Crown" Pin

Vintage B. David "Family Crown" pin. Silver Tone. Signed. Also called Mother's Crowns, these came in two sizes and were made in both silver and gold tone. They were custom ordered with the birthstones of a woman's children (if there were more stones than children, clear stones were used). The larger brooch like this one has space for 12 children while the smaller size has room for 6. Colorful pear shaped rhinestones are accented by faux seed pearls on a base of multicolor aurora borealis coated baguettes and round cut stones. Crown measures approximately 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches high Original box and paperwork included as shown. The company described this brooch in their literature as "The story of a mother's life beautifully told with each child's simulated birthstone as a jewel in her crown". "Family Crown" was a registered trade mark of B. David. B. David started in 1946 in Cincinatti, Ohio as a small family owned jewelry store. Largely because of this design, the company became known worldwide and continued to do business until 1993.
