The comedy and tragedy symbol dates back to Greek Mythology and has been the central representation of the creative arts for decades. These masks were used in early plays to represent the emotions the characters were feeling. It was easier for audience members who were sitting far away from the stage to see the masks and the emotions they were portraying. CREATOR: This mask comes from the Balocoloc workshop. Founded by a group of young Venetian Mask Makers in 1977, today owned and managed by the experienced proficient artisan, Silvana Martin. Together, with her 2 sons and other family members, Silvana makes traditional handmade products for many shops in Venice, Italy.
