Vintage Betty Draper 1950s 1960s Taffeta Cocktail Dress

A true vintage cocktail dress released by Montgomery Ward in 1958 with this specific color being sold starting in 1959. This particular make of dress was worn by character Betty Draper in the series ‘Mad Men’ although in a different color scheme. It is made from an acetate taffeta and the entire bodice of the dress was dismantled, the stressed lining replaced with new taffeta and sewn/finished in the same manner as the original. The entire bodice was restitched and is ready to wear for another 65 years! The cap sleeves were restored with previous owners preferring them hemmed down, rips in the bodice strongly patched with material of the old bodice lining, and minor repairs on the hem from previous owners. Photo of one particular stain found. Has lightened with hand washing. The skirt also has a bubble hem with crinoline inside. Giant bow on back. Dress is being sold as is. No returns.
