Vintage Black Sturdy Shiny Roomy Patent Vinyl Gold Kiss Clasp Envelope Satchel Bag
* Mid century vintage Daytime Pocketbook or Grandma Bag 1950's going into 1969's
* Inside is lined with red satin grosgrain which is in great condition with only 1 Slight pen mark to be seen
* Also attached inside is the most adorable little red kiss clasp change purse with a black interior
* Source & fabric content unknown.
* Thick, shiny patent . Rich gold frame with a kiss clasp shaped like 2 Acorn husks. 2 Patent handle
* Flaws: >There is 1 round scratch as small as the stick pointed out in the photo
> A half inch scratch near the bottom corner that looks to have been professionally filled
> A few very light superficial scratches throughout the exterior, No fogginess.
> The gold frame color is still rich but is showing mottled age spots throughout.
I wouldn't chance ruining the exterior over this. I'd leave it to show it's vintage character
> Finally, as shown in the photos the interior is tearing under the points of the frame on both sides of the bag.
This can be fixed by a cobbler OR yourself IF you're handy & you PROMISE to never push the sides out by glueing them in
onto the fabric. They are not more than a half inch if that. Myself, I'd take her to the doctor.

Hey, a nice vintage handbag-style pocketbook - also known as a "Daytime Pocketbook" due to size. By styling, either late 50s or mid-to late 60s - periods had a number of companies making huge handbags.
By the by, unless there is a tag or stamped marking denoting leather for the body (outer material), from what I see and don't see when using a closeup view, this is patent vinyl which is a different material from patent leather
Hope this info is useful.

Thank you for the valuable info! As you know Patent Leather is a widely & loosely used used term even today. I know vinyl was starting to be used then & was a far superior quality to the vinyl/PU of today hence the vintage items lifespan compared to today's items. I remember those bags from when I was little. You've inspired me to tweek my listing. Happy Holidays & Happy New Year
