Made in Canada by Blue Mountain Pottery Company.
This vintage pitcher is stamped on the bottom with BMP's three tree logo and Canada markings. A ring of unglazed red clay is also present.
7-inches tall Classic mid-century style with its elongated, curved handle that slopes upward into the spout. I was very interested in Danish design at that time.
Blue Mountain Pottery was a Canadian red clay pottery company located in Collingwood, Ontario. It was founded in 1953 and closed in 2004. The early work used a “flow glaze” technique, the blue/green shade reportedly an attempt to mimic the color of Blue Mountain Under the heat and drip glaze they produced a variegated pattern. No batch was entirely the same because they reacted differently.
The Blue Green Drip Glaze is in perfect condition! No chips or cracks. The colors are rich and gorgeous. It was not subjected to sun or artificial light.
Excellent condition throughout - I would have loved to decorate with Danish furniture, but had a Goodwill budget and it hid away, mostly forgotten, for more than 50 years.
We purchased it when we visited Niagra Falls on our honeymoon/move to Maryland in 1968.
