Vintage Brass Cricket Box with Cutouts Trinket matchbook case

Solid Brass Cricket Trinket Box with star or cross style cutouts on sides and lid. A footed metal box with a latch on the front and a handle on the lid Hinged lid which closes and latch shuts. Has been shined up, which you can see in the photos. Pre-shine photos are included so you can see what it will be like with a patina from age and use. Dating back to the Tang dynasty in China, these little boxes and cages were used as homes for crickets. People kept crickets as pets to listen to their songs and for cricket fights. Crickets were a sign of luck, symbolizing good fortune and longevity. This box is from the 1970s. Vintage and secondhand items may show signs of wear, which is normal for their age and use.
