It appears there was a stamp on the bottom of one but it is no longer legible.  I'm not aware of any other company that made them.  ✓ They're frequently  listed as a Jewish couple, I'm not sure how that characterization came about.  Many are listed as carved but that is not accurate to the production method of Syroco Wood (described below. They do look "Old World" to me.  ✓ They have no chips and are definitely made of the pressed wood composite pioneered by the Syroco company and appear to be from that mid-century era.  They measure just under 5.5" high. ✓ A brief definition of "Syroco wood" found on Google: "A specialized wood pulp material created from a combination of ingredients (wood pulp and flour, to name a few). Thanks to their specific composition, the Syroco company could press the material into compression molds, which would solidify into shapes that resembled carved wood. After being pulled out of their molds, the various products could be painted and varnished to really sell the real-wood look."
