Vintage Ceramic Card Case

Extremely rare vintage ceramic card case with hand painted metallic adornment & beautiful bird motif. There is also painting on the inside flap. Rare and highly collectible. Card cases were used in the Victorian era by ladies who used these cases for calling cards from gentlemen who "called" on them. They fit neatly in a pocket or small purse. Women's card cases were much more decorative than men's whose were mostly crafted using solid silver or other materials. These ceramic cases are really rare and highly collectible. This card case is in excellent antique condition. The clasp still works and can be used for small items like bills or coins. Truly gorgeous and unique!
