Vintage Chanel 1985 Double C Medallion Pendant Gold Plated Signed Necklace 3632

This 1985 CC medallion chain necklace Crafted from polished gold-plated brass with a wheat chain design from Chanel boasts the maison's signature interlocking CC logo, designed by Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel in 1925, at the centre of the medallion charm. It is stamped on necklace tag “Made in France” and “Chanel 1985” with copyright. The medallion is also stamped “Chanel” and with Chanel CoCo mark “3632”. The necklace is approximately 15.5” in length and in beautiful vintage condition. This was purchased from an estate seller from Florida. So I love researching my history on these gorgeous vintage finds - And Chanel arrived on the scene in the late 1920s when jewelry was only made with fine metals and precious stones, and could only be afforded by the wealthy. More affordable “costume jewelry” existed, but it was looked down upon by many. CoCo Chanel took the groundbreaking approach of mixing fine jewelry with costume jewelry when she accessorized. People were shocked and intrigued by the fact that she would use layers of faux pearl necklaces and stacks of bracelets to create visual interest to complement her minimalist clothing designs. That contrast continues to be an essential element of the Chanel allure to this day and a reason that people continue to love Chanel jewelry of all kinds. It continues to be a highly sought after designer for vintage jewelry collectors as well as people who simply love the timeless designs from arguably one the most famous designers ever.
