Vintage Charivari New York Sheer Striped Metallic Maxi Dress. This is a rare, one of a kind find. Dress is glittery and sheer all over. Purple, gold, green, and orange stripes on top with stripes repeating on the wrists of the long bell sleeves. Two side slits on side of dress for ease of movement. You'll most likely want to wear a slip under this dress because it is so sheer. I found one area of stitching under the stripe perhaps a mend (see 7th picture) but if you wear a slip layer under the dress it won't be able to be seen. Fabric is metallic rayon. Vanity Fair has a whole article on "The Rise and Fall of Charivari, the Cult Boutique of Fashion’s Cutting Edge". The Weiser family built Charivari from one storefront in 1967 into a $20 million mini-empire, championing designers such as Issey Miyake, Helmut Lang, and Marc Jacobs. Vintage tag size is 11/12 but vintage sizing is often small in contemporary sizes today. Measurements as follows: Pit to pit: 18.5" Shoulder: 15". Waist: 16". Length: 58.5". Hip: 20". Sleeve 23.5" .
