Vintage Clay Art Humpty Dumpty Ceramic Cookie Jar 1991 Hand Painted The origin of Humpty Dumpty is a combination of military history, a riddle, and a character from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass: Lewis Carroll The image of Humpty Dumpty as an egg comes from Carroll's and 1871 novel Through the Looking- Glass, where Alice encounters a giant, sentient egg with a face. It is in acceptable condition. There is a trail of chips and a crack in the glaze down the front, and around one leg. ****PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS!**** The crack doesn't seem to go all the way through, but it does weaken the jar. I did not repaint the chips. The lid, lips, and leg show chips, along the trail of the crack. No other issues. Smoke free home. Crossposted on other platforms. I am cleaning out my family's houses so we can help my mom retire and move, so there is quite a bit for sale.
