About this item 1940s / 1950s BELLE O"THE BALL collapsible hoop frame crinoline petticoat. By Clayton Mfg. Co.Plastic patented skirt hoop for travel w/ case. Rare and perfectly amazing piece of history. Now finding themselves in some of the best museums collections, including the MET. Patented in 1947 by Mary Clayton, so a lady could easily pack a hoop skirt when they traveling. Cotton straps wrap around the waist and fasten with a series of snaps. Easily adjustable by snapping more or less overlap. The two tiers accordion in and out to expand or contract. Perfect solution for a full ball gown! Traveling case includes a center compartment for storage. Excellent condition - maybe a scuff or two on the case. Free hips. Case approx. 8" wide x 4" high
