Beautiful Vintage Oval Framed crewel work flowers, looks like poppies with dark red, mauve pink, and green shades on an ecru cream background. Frame is solid wood with a dark stain and includes original glass, backing paper and hanging wire. Based on appearance of backing paper and hanging wire; appears to be very old. Measures approximately 12” x 14”. A few small white scuffs on frame that are barely noticeable. Excellent vintage/antique condition.

serenehands Would this be crewel or cross stitch? I’m still new to all the sewing terms!

brandi_slays @serenehands I’m unsure of the terminology as well, but I believe ‘crewel’ refers to the thicker wool yarn used, so that’s why I labeled it that way. My understanding is that cross-stitch uses the finer embroidery floss. It’s a lovely old piece.
