Vintage Denver A's Athletics Oakland MLB Proposed Team 70s RARE Artifact Sz M
Seller Note: This vintage 1987 Denver Athletics promotional shirt is in good condition and shows some wear from age, including light bunching on the hem of the sleeve. The shirt also has some minor markings, but these imperfections are consistent with the age of the garment. Please refer to all photos for details and feel free to reach out with any questions before purchasing.
**This special tee is from a little known part of the Oakland A's history. It was created as promotional merch for a proposed MLB team that never came to fruition, the Denver Athletics.
Charlie Finley was the owner of the A's from 1960 until 1980 and he is one of the most notorious MLB owners of all time. When he bought the A's they were playing for Kansas City but he was determined to move the baseball team. At the end of Finley's ownership, after successfully moving the team to Oakland in 1968, he tried again to move the team to Denver.
This venture never panned out, and Denver eventually received their own expansion team, the Colorado Rockies, but remnants of the attempt, such as this t-shirt, still remain. Aside from his attempt to relocate the team, Charlie Finely is also remembered for coming up with the team's iconic green and yellow color palette, and also popularizing the team's nickname, the A's.**
