Vintage East Indian Necklace from Nagaland

Magnificent necklace with 40 strands of small deep coral colored glass beads highlighted on the back. The beads are strung on a soft overdyed fiber knotted in a macrame pattern that tapers to a button and loop closure. Total length is 23 inches. This is an impressive and rare piece collected in the 1980s but made earlier. It was created and used for Naga ceremonies and celebrations. This exquisite necklace is a collectible piece in excellent condition, easy to wear today as a stunning accessory. Nagaland is a state in northeastern India and is home to several distinct tribes skilled in a variety of arts and crafts.
