“In Vanity Fair” published in 1896 contains a selection of pen & ink drawings of high society by the book and magazine illustrator Albert Beck Wenzell (1864-1917). He came from a wealthy family and studied art in Munich and Paris. Wenzell was one of the founding members of the Society of Illustrators and was elected its president in 1902. He became known for his highly stylized portraits of young society women known as "Wenzell's Girls".
