This 9-1/2" plate is from the "French Provincial" line of decorative dinnerware, distributed by Herman C. Kupper of New York in the 1950s and 1960s. Kupper had an exclusive arrangement with the china manufacturers that he dealt with, allowing for his name to be on the dishes and not the actual manufacturer. His primary producer was Steubenville Pottery in Ohio, but we cannot verify that this line was produced by them.
This size would be considered a small dinner plate, or perhaps a luncheon plate. It features a French country scene with sheep grazing at the bottom and a ruined castle near the top. The rim is fluted, and edged with circles of green and yellow.
This plate is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some light utensil marks, as would be expected from use.
