Every vintage item can take us back in time to give us a little glimpse history, a story, some educational insight, and a reminder that women are strong smart and highly respected in the field of work that they love. Monteil was a French Fashion Designer that moved to New York in the 1930s. She developed her fashion and won the first presented Neiman Marcus Fashion Award in 1938. She has created many wonderful items. I hope to see more one day. But this is the story of this porcelain cup.
After she met her husband they created a cosmetic line. In the 1950s one scent from her line was the Royal Secret. This is where the era of the porcelain piece comes from. It was a candle holder with a lid. The lid is missing but this collectors item is still useful and beautiful. It can be used as a trinket jewelry holder by the bedside, a small desk candy dish holder, or use it as a scented votive candle holder. The cup is hand painted and made in Japan Exclusively for Germaine Monteil.
