Vintage Gien France Oblong Platter, Oiseaux de Paradis pattern

Beautiful and colorful addition to your table. Rimmed with light blue and featuring a Bird of Paradise in the center surrounded by floral design. From 1990s, purchased in Paris and comes in its original box. Translated as "Birds of Paradise" in English, Gien's Oiseaux de Paradis dinnerware was first designed in 1865 and has been popular ever since.  Charming Gien Oiseaux de Paradis is an iconic Gien pattern inspired by ancient Chinese porcelain features handpainted blue trim. The scalloped coquille shape is taken from ancient French Rouen faience. Located near the Loire Valley castles, the Faïencerie de Gien has been synonymous with prestigious faience tableware and decorative objects since its founding in 1821.
