These Vintage Givenchy Signed 1980’s Unique Cross and Circles Design Gold Plated Clip On Earrings are lovely and sure to stand out. They measure approximately 1.5” in length and are stamped Givenchy but show wear on Givenchy stamp. They are classic Givenchy vintage style shiny goldtone metal clip earrings. Shaped a bit like “X” and “O”’s. They are in good working order and in very good vintage condition. They do show some minor signs of wear and age. Some subtle marks and scratches to finish but retain their beauty and classic retro style. As a collector I’m always interested in the history of these famous designers. Hubert de Givenchy launched his first collection under the Givenchy name in 1952, shortly before he turned 25, after several years as artistic director for Schiaparelli. Givenchy met the American actress Audrey Hepburn, who wore several of his pieces in the film "Sabrina," marking the beginning of their enduring friendship and professional collaboration. Hepburn also donned Givenchy creations in films like "Funny Face" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and many other famous celebrities. Givenchy expanded his high-quality accessories and costume jewelry in the late 1960s, with typical designs featuring gold- or silver-plating, heavy chains, glass, Lucite, rhinestones, and faux pearls. Vintage Givenchy jewelry was often signed with a stamp of the company name or variation of the "G" logo on the clasps. In 1988, the Givenchy label became part of the LVMH luxury brand.
