Vintage Guatemalan Huipil From 1980’s S/M
Huipiles are hand woven and worn by the indigenous women of Guatemala. Each huipil displays woven and embroidered designs distinctive to the specific village or area where it was made.
The design of each huipil can identify individual personality and the village they are from, as well as marital, social, wealth, and religious status. They can take months to weave.
Some villages make them very short (18” in length) and very wide while others villages make them longer and in varying widths.
Approximate measurements
Folded: 38”x22”
Fully opened: 45”x36”
This is not only a pre owned garment but also a vintage piece from the 80’s. It has normal signs of wear and aging like discoloration and yellowing of fabric, an stains. There is a portion where the bright embroidery bled onto the fabric probably due to not knowing how to handle the fabric. Unsure if this is something that can be corrected. Sold as is.
Reasonable offers are welcome and always considered.
