Vintage Gucci Plum Purple Velvet Military Evening Jacket Blazer Size IT 40/US 4

This designer Gucci velvet ladies' evening jacket is a velvet in a rich shade of plum purple. Capped with chocolatey brown suedelike shoulder pad accents that are reminiscent of epaulettes and wrist cuffs in the same hue that hide a gold zipper to make the sleeves wider and roomier. Flap pockets at the hips give it the suggestion of a peplum flare. The structured lines and high collar with embellished stitching all combine to allude to a salute to military uniforms of years gone by. The closure is a hidden double zipper branded with Gucci as well button snaps. Dated 2005, I believe this jacket is from the Fall 2005 collection, marking Alessandra Facchinetti's debut as creative director, the first year after Tom Ford left Gucci as creative director.
