I have had this at least 20 years, if not 30. I've only ever used it briefly to stack plates. I purchased it from an antique shop in San Francisco long ago. I do not know the age of this. No one seems to know online when I do a cross image search. Some people say it's from the 1960s, and others say the 1900s. Maybe someone who is of Indian descent would know.
The wood is beautiful and rich, and has a red hue, but I don't know the type of wood. It is deeply carved in every direction, and each section where you would stack plates or maybe put something like petit fours or small cakes has inlay work. I can not tell what the inlay is made of. It is not the mother of pearl. It might be bone, but it is not metal like some inlay Indian pieces have. I do not see any missing inlay. There's some slight water damage here and there. the plate stand portions can go down or be kept upwards if you just want it for decorative purposes. It is sturdy, and the brackets are all very sturdy and hold each plate. They have some rust on them. The range of prices is pretty astronomical for this online. Ranging anywhere from about $150 to $900!
since Poshmark steals is so much from us, I am setting this at the high end to start, so there is wiggle room, and I actually profit (which is highly unusual on this platform!)
