Vintage Hand Crafted Batik Wood Mask from Java, "Bird Dance"

This Beautiful, hand carved, hand painted, Javanese mask depicts a dancer dressed for Manuk Rawa, a traditional Balinese dance for women and girls. Using batik, a wax-resist dyeing method, the Javanese artisan creates colorful patterns that shimmer across the wadang wood mask. The mask is in excellent condition and is mounted on a stand within a dark wood frame. There are several small scratches on the wood frame that a coat of paint would cover up.
