Vintage Hebron Kano trade beads yellow African Nigeria

Please see pics for details. This strand was probably made about mid century, give or take. However, the history of the Hebron beads dates back to the 1800s when they were made with salt from the Dead Sea and sand. They were primarily made for trade making their way to Kano, Nigeria into various tribes including the Yoruba people. Eventually they got the name ‘Kano’ beads in addition to ‘Hebron’. Hebron, or Kano beads come in various colors and this one is yellow. Great collection piece, but also great for jewelry making and macrame.
