Vintage and soon to be antique paradise parure, brooch is signed Hoffman Sterling for New York based Frederick S. Hoffman and Co. which made the butterfly wing jewelry from 1930's - 1940's. They feature a tropical sunset scene with palm trees and birds against an iridescent blue/purple sky. The luminescence is from the wings of the Morpho butterfly as the background sky, with reverse painted images for a dazzling effect.
