This book is a complete and definitive history of America's oldest breed horse complete with b&w photographs and rare illustrations borrowed from vast sources: Morgan owners & breeders, The Morgan Horse Club, Inc.; several historical societies, museums and libraries; the Dept of Agriculture; the Smithsonian Institution; the Library of Congress, and the author's collection.
A third generation horse person, Peggy Jett Pittenger is the author of several other horse books and the proud owner of a 250-acre farm in Ohio where she raises Morgans, Thoroughbreds and Arab-cross ponies, following in the footsteps of her grandfather who also raised Morgans around the turn of the century.
Condition of the hardcover is good with spine intact and all pages attached; mild wear to corners. There's an ex libris in red on inside of back hardcover (see photo) and subsequent pages w/owner's initials in red on the righthand corner throughout various pages. Pages have yellow age tinting; there doesn't appear to be any folds or tears other than on the dust jacket as you will see in the photos.
