In Japanese, a chopstick rest is called a Hashioki.
The ceramic fish Hashioki is from the Inagiku Japanese Restaurant, a famous chain of Japanese Restaurants founded in Kyushu, Japan in 1866. In the late 20th century, they expanded with branches in Macau, the United States, Europe and elsewhere. Inagiku specialized in sushi and tempura. The fish Hashioki is branded with “Inagiku Tempura” on the backside of it which makes this a very interesting advertising piece as well as a chopstick rest. It is 3.5” long by 1” at its widest point. Great for collectors of advertising or Hashioki!
Included with the fish Hashioki are two sets of vintage ceramic Hashioki. There are a total of five Hashioki that you would be purchasing. I believe they are all vintage, ceramic and made in Japan.
