About Jane Shilton - The UK brand is synonymous with classically styled, superior quality leather bags and goods. Originally founded by Alexander Shilton in the 1930s, the company built a reputation for producing fashionable accessories with a hand-made feel. When Alexander left London to fight for his country in World War II, he left his secretary Jane in charge of steering the company through the war. The company moved from producing luxury handbags to making gas masks for London's beleaguered residents. On his return home, Alexander not only married the woman who had kept his company going, but renamed it in her honor. From that day, a brand was reborn.
