A pair of sensu folding fans that feature famous Japanese images. The first is of a kabuki actor in the Toshusai Sharaku style, a well-know artist of kabuki from the late 1700s. The image is on a paper leaf flanked by red, gray and green stripes. The Japanese basically says it's a photograph of a painting and "Sharaku style". The second is of a geisha looking into a mirror on a cream paper background. The Japanese says "mirror transformation" and "painting my Kamaro". Both have natural brown sticks to hold the leaf. Got these in Japan about 2004 and both are in good condition. Suitable for use on a hot day or as a decorative piece on a stand. Handmade. Each measures 15" open and normally sells for $40 apiece.
