This vintage dachibin is hand-made and appears to be Raku fired. It features a brown clay with white, green, and yellow glazes. There is a small flower-like pattern across the front. I would guess this dates back to the mid-century. It is not signed.
Measures approximately 4" wide by 3.5" tall and is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Please see photos for condition details and ask with any questions.
The Dachibin is a sake flask specifically designed to fit the hip. It is crescent-shaped with two loops on the outer sides to hold a shoulder cord or strap. The original Dachibin were used by farmers to carry water or sake in the rice fields, having a curved shape that fits perfectly around the waist.
