Vintage Japanese Vermilion Lacquer Bowl Abelone Butterfly Inlay Art Object Decor

This exquisite Japanese lacquer bowl is a beautiful work of art that showcases 3 intricate abalone ( Mother of Pearl ) butterfly inlay silhouettes. Handmade in Japan with the famous rust color vermillion in a brilliant, mirror like shine from layers and layers of lacquer applied, this piece embodies the elegant and refined aesthetic of traditional Japanese culture. The finish is as smooth as butter! The special bowl's provenance is not available - I bought it in a second hand shop in Tokyo. Its craftsmanship speaks for itself. It came wrapped in cellophane. It is signed - see sticker on bottom. Ideal for collectors of Asian art and Japanese culture, this item is a unique addition to any home decor or art collection. Currently, rust / natural colors are still very popular in interior design. There are 2 condition issues : a black micro chip on the bottom near base rim and a mar in the shine about 2” L also underneath ( hard to see ). The face of the bowl and top rim are MINT!
