Authentic gripoix-style articulated belt in gold-plated metal and colored cabochons by Kenneth Jay Lane. This is a rare and important example of the work of the famed designer; signed “Kenneth Lane.” One of the most collectible among Lane's designs, this belt has twenty large sugarloaf cabochons of various rounded shapes, made of translucent lucite. The cabochons mimic the colors of red ruby, green emerald, purple amethyst, sapphire blue and golden topaz. They glow depending on the light, letting some of the textured gold-tone metal within show through and shimmer. The belt has a length of 34 3/4", including extension chain; the larger stones are about 1 1/2” wide. It has a hook closure. Weighs 10 oz. Offered in excellent vintage condition, never worn.
