Vintage LAWRENCE VRBA SIGNED RUNWAY CARVED BOHEMIAN RARE STATEMENT NECKLACE

This is a vintage Mid Century carved stone and bead with rhinestones necklace from designer Lawrence Vrba. Vrba designed under his own name after working for famed American jewelry designer Miriam Haskell. This necklace is INCREDIBLE and measures approximately 40” in length. Gold tone metal. Tribal carved stones with gorgeous multicolored stones. THIS IS A RARE COLLECTOR FIND. It is in excellent vintage condition. After working for Miriam Haskell in the late 60’s Lawrence Vrba moved on to Castlecliff from 1970-1972, where he designed a line of Mayan inspired pieces that are popular with collectors today. He then returned to Haskell, where, after a short time, he became the head designer from 1973 through 1981. During his years at Haskell, Vrba expanded the company’s jewelry lines beyond their traditional style to one of his most famous collections -the Egyptian series. His designs were known to have a bigger-is-better attitude for which he is still well known today. The jewelry has been handcrafted in his studio, and many pieces, especially his magnificent brooches, are very sculptural so they can be displayed in a showcase as well as worn. This piece is signed Lawrence VRBA and definitely has some of the Haskell elements as well as the over the top Mayan/tribal design of his truly stunning iconic designs.
