Vintage Lord Nelson Ware by Elijah Cotton Horse carriage scene

Vintage Lord Nelson Ware beer stein / Tankard by Elijah Cotton Ltd 1950’s Made in: Staffordshire, England. The tankard has a lovely treacle coloured glaze, embossed flower motives running round the base and silver metallic painted handles and rims. * Front: Victorian stagecoach scene that says “Coaching Days” * Back: horseshoe and riding crop design Stamped with ELIJAH COTTON LTD, LORD NELSON WARE, STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND on the base, with Nelson's Coloumn in the center. This mark was used in the 1950s. Excellent vintage condition (never used). Some light wear to the gilding and charming light crazing - see photos. Made by the Lord Nelson Pottery, which was founded in 1758 in Hanley, Staffordshire, and has produced both serious commemorative and humorous tankards and plates etc, frequently using this lovely treacle coloured glaze, with metallic painted handle and rim. Note: vintage item may carry some marks and scuffs typical of their age and history. MEASUREMENTS: 4 7/8" tall 3 1/4" Opening 4.25" Base CONDITION: Mint. No chips, or cracks. There is charming crazing on most of the mug. Vintage Gift perfect.
