Vintage Louis Rousselet French Glass Bead & Faux Pearl Tassel Sautoir Necklace

Gorgeous vintage necklace by Louis Rousselet with alternating chain work and lampwork glass beads framed by glass rondelles, with an intricate tassel pendant featuring glass beads in round and free-form petal shapes, as well as faux pearls. Beautiful color scheme in the glass work of red, green, and violet purple. The necklace is about 24 inches in length, the tassel about another 2.75 inches, and the necklace closes with a classic Rousselet barrel clasp. Rousselet was a French parurier, best known for his lampwork beads and faux pearls - though he created a much broader range of jewelry. Many of his pieces have been misattributed over the years to Maison Gripoix. He created haute couture costume jewelry for many of France’s design houses, from Chanel to Dior, Balenciaga, and more, as well as jewelry for the performers at Moulin Rouge, Casino de Paris, and les Folies Bergères. Chanel was one of his first customers. Rousselet also created jewelry that was sold under his own name in department stores. All of his jewelry was hand crafted in France.
