Southern Rock Royalty Lynyrd Skynyrd blazed a trail across the airwaves beginning in 1973 with a million selling debut album - “Pronounced ‘Lěh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd” featuring the hit song “Free Bird”. The band followed up with their 2nd album “Second Helping” and another hit “Sweet Home Alabama”. Known for their heavy drinking and on-stage brawls the band was destined for a tragic ending. The partying finally caught up in 1977 when the band’s plane crashed - while on tour supporting their latest album “Street Survivors” -near Gillsburg, Mississippi killing Ronnie Van Zant, Stevie Gaines and Cassie Gaines.
