Vintage MIMI Di N “Playing Cards” Belt Buckle, NWT

This is truly a rare find. Mimi Di Niscema (aka “Mimi Di N) was born in Palermo Italy. She is an internationally known designer of women’s costume jewelry and it’s also referred to as Princess Mimi di Niscema. She studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Arts and simultaneously worked part time for Schiaparelli Jewelry. She opened her own jewelry in 1960 in New York City. Her original pieces are marked “ Mimi Di N”. She is best known for her inspired unusual belt buckles. Dramatic, bold and elaborate designs using gold and silver plating and enamel. Mimi‘s costume jewelry and accessories appeared on the cover of Vogue and Harper’s bizarre in the 60s and 70s. Mimi Di N belt buckles are classics and heirloom collectibles. Her jewelry is an iconic industry brand featured in museums she designed for many famous 20th century women including Jackie Kennedy, and the Duchess of Windsor. This fabulous, 2 piece, “Playing Cards” buckle is new with tags. Buckle measures 4.25” long x 2.5”wide and gold plated with enamel red and black. Designer stamp is on both pieced.
