McCormick, now known primarily for spices, was one of the earliest producers of tea in gauze pouches, the earliest tea bags. The company opened a tea room in Baltimore in 1934, replicating an early English tea house. Before the tea room, the company distributed teapots to promote its tea. The earliest of these pots were made by the Bennett Pottery Co., a Baltimore firm that lasted until the Depression. Then McCormick contracted with the Hall China Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio, to make the teapots. The manufacturer isn't revealed on individual teapots, but collectors have persisted in identifying them. This McCormick's Banquet Tea Balto Six Cup Teapot with Lid was made by Hall China Co. in the 1940's to 1950's.
The teapot measures 7.5" tall with the lid; is 9.5" long from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle; and has a 2.5" diameter opening and a 3.5" diameter base.
