Vintage Mexican Pottery Duck, Signed by El Palomar, Mexico
In the 1960s Ken Edwards migrated to the crafts village of Tonala in Central Mexico. With Mexican Jorge Wilmot they founded a stoneware company, El Palomar. This high temperature stoneware is lead free, hand-painted and hand glazed. Although pieces are very similar, they have been hand-painted and have slight differences in their design. They are highly collectible and can be difficult to find. This Pato Grande is adorable. It is 7 1/2" tall, and 11" long. It is signed by the artist with El Palomar Mexico. It is beautifully painted in whimsical flowers and butterflies in dark blue and brown on gray background, and is perfect to accompany the Ken Edwards El Palomar collection. An excellent example of the superb craftsmanship of stoneware artwork produced by El Palomar, and a wonderful addition to your home decor.
