Vintage Micro Mosaic Art Glass Millefiori Mandolin Brooch Pin

Charming, vintage pin made of tiny, colorful pieces of glass in a floral design set in a gold-tone metal. This special craft originated during the Renaissance in the 16th century. It uses tiny stained glass and delicate handwork to create exquisite miniature pictures. It became popular in the 19th century. Good condition, with slight signs of age, there are oxidation spots on the metal on the back of the mandolin. No pieces missing that I can see. Measures approx. 1.25" L x 1/2" W. Clasp works like a safety pin. Gift Box. Stamped, but I cannot read. FYI--I recycle shipping materials to save costs & our only earth.
