Rare Find! 1970s Signed Monet Vintage Monet Goddess of Fortune and Fate, Personification of Luck Pendant Necklace & Clip On Earrings Monet French Gold Medal/Coin of Princess Elisa Bonaparte and the Semi Nude Goddess of Fortune and Fate ( Fortuna ) Pendant Necklace & Clip On Earrings The coin measures 1" in diameter and the chain measures 18". The Earrings measure 1.5" from stud to end of coin. These beautiful pieces are in excellent vintage condition. -------------------------- The set was modeled after a Commemorative Medal that was issued by the Paris Mint in 1808, based on an ancient Greek coin. On the obverse, Elisa Bonaparte, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, Princess of Lucca and Piombino, Countess of Compignano, On the reverse side is shown the semi nude goddess Fortuna. She holds a flail in her left hand and steers the Ship of Fate with her right. It was said that a statuette of the goddess was always kept in the sleeping quarters of Roman emperors for luck and prosperity.
